Masterclass From Mayweather!

Floyd Mayweather made a successful return to the ring after a year absence and retained his WBC welterweight title with a unanimous points victory over Robert Guerrero. Many had doubted Mayweather ahead of this fight after having such a long time out of the ring but as ever he rose to the occasion and put on a boxing master class. In the early rounds Guerrero tried to make himself known by pressuring Mayweather and had him pinned to the ropes in the second. However that was the brief and little success Guerrero had over his opponent. In the third Mayweather really came into his own as he landed some damaging blows to Guerrero. Through the middle rounds Mayweather set the tempo and kept his compatriot at bay and out of range. By the eighth round Mayweather’s speed and accuracy was taking its toll on Guerrero with his eye opening into a cut and after a series of big rights his legs briefly deserted him. From then until the final bell Mayweather dominated the fight and was picking off Guerrero at will. At the end of the fight Mayweather was barely marked and he finished with a 60% success rate with power punches, which a remarkable stat. His accuracy, speed and movement were all just too much for Robert Guerrero. On all three cards the fight was scored 117-111 to Mayweather. He now extends his record to 44-0.
