The Weekends Action...

Klitschko Vs Povetkin






 Wladimir Klitschko put in another superior performance to retain his WBA, WBO and IBF world heavyweight titles with an easy win on points against Alexander Povetkin.  Klitschko knocked his opponent down on four occasions during the fight with three of them all coming in seventh. The Ukrainians dominance showed as he won by a massive margin of 119-104 on all three scorecards. Klitschko improves his record to 61-3 and remains the king of the heavyweight division.






Selby Vs Walsh

 Lee Selby eventually came out on top with a unanimous points victory in a tough fight with Ryan Walsh. Walsh started the brighter and was making Selby look sluggish. The fight got even worse for Selby when he got a cut next to his right eye in the third round. In the fourth Selby came back into the fight and as the middle rounds progressed he showed great boxing skill with some impressive combinations. Selby who eventually went on to win the fight comfortably controlled the final rounds.





Quigg Vs Salinas

Scott Quigg retained his WBA super-bantamweight title with a majority draw against Yoandris Salinas. Quigg found it hard to pin down the slick Salinas as the early rounds proved to be cagey. The slow paced fight suited Salinas until Quigg raised the tempo in the fourth and started landing some decent shots. Both fighters were producing great boxing and in the later rounds Quigg took charge to swing the fight in his favour. The final bell went and two judges scored the fight 114-114 and the other 115-113 to Quigg.





Joshua Vs Leo






  Anthony Joshua started his professional boxing career with an emphatic knockout win over Emanuele Leo. Joshua displayed his explosive punching power and found his range with his right hand. A sharp right sent Leo stumbling backwards and Joshua pounched on his opponent with big punches. The fight was soon over as Joshua unleashed a big right left that left Leo in trouble on the ropes. Another Fierce right left sent Leo crashing to the canvas. The referee immediately waved off the fight and left Joshua to reflect on his great start to his professional career. 




Cotto Vs Rodriguez
 Miguel Cotto sparked life back into his career with a third round stoppage against Delvin Rodriguez. After having a torrid 2012 Cotto produced an impressive
performance that marked was the 31st knockout of his career. Cotto who was fighting for the first time under new trainer Freddie Roach was on the attack from the start. In the second he hurt his opponent with a combination that left Rodriguez staggering. The end was soon to come when Cotto put his man down in the third with a flurry of headshots that ended in the ref to wave off the contest. Cotto improved his record to 38-4






Campbell Vs Hepper
 
Luke Campbell continued his professional career with a first round stoppage against Neil Hepper. Campbell looked a different class from the start and was unleashing slick, crisp combinations on his opponent. A looping right sent Hopper toppling to the floor but the Darlington fighter appeared unhurt until Campbell unleashed a shuddering right hand to his ribs. Hepper once again slumped to the canvas and couldn’t beat the count as Campbell racked up another win in the pro ranks.
