The Weekend’s Action…

Manny Pacquiao vs Timothy Bradley

Manny Pacquiao gained sweet revenge and handed Timothy Bradley his first career defeat with a unanimous points victory to regain the WBO welterweight title in Las Vegas. Bradley often looked wild throughout the fight and especially towards the end it looked clear he was after the knockout. Both men were exchanging blows with Pacquiao looking unsure how to land a punch without getting countered. However the sixth round was a decisive round with Bradley appearing to tire, Pacquiao changed his tactics to throw fast combinations and move out of Bradley’s range, which saw Pacquiao begin to take control. There was one worry in the ninth round when Bradley caught Pacquiao on the chin, but apart from that Pacquiao saw the fight out with ease. The judges scored fight 116-112, 116-112 and 118-110 in favour of the Filipino.

David Price vs Ondrej Pala
David Price stayed on course with his comeback after two straight losses to Tony Thompson with a third-round stoppage victory over Ondrej Pala in Denmark. It wasn’t all plain sailing for Price as he was dropped in the first round when he was caught some what off balance by a left hook, although he was straight to his feet and easily beat the count. Price used his long jab well in the second round but yet still left himself exposed to Pala. The Czech looked to be a tougher opponent than expected for Price until the third round when Price sent his opponent to the canvas with a straight right. Pala managed to beat the count but was floored again by another right hand in which this time the referee stopped contest.
