The Weekends Action…

Brian Rose vs Demetrius Andrade
Brave Brian Rose lost his bid to become WBO Light-Middleweight champion after suffering a seventh-round stoppage defeat against Demetrius Andrade. Rose who had built up a string of 11 straight wins was knocked down in the first round by straight left and in the third by a counter right hook. Although Rose done well to battle on it was clear the American was handing out a boxing lesson in which he had built up a healthy lead on the scorecards. By the seventh round Rose had been taking a fair bit of punishment, in which the referee wanted to see no more and called a halt to preceding’s.

Ruslan Provodnikov Vs Chris Algieri
The shock of the night came from the main event at the Barclays Center as Chris Algieri beat Ruslan Provodnikov on points after coming from a huge setback early on. Algieri was caught by a big left hook in the first round, in which his eye swelled up instantly. The New Yorker then had to take a knee after Provodnikov unloaded another big punch. However once Algieri recovered he used slick movement and precision punching to pick off his opponent. Although Provodnikov had superior power he was making it all too obvious that he wanted to land that one big power punch and through large spells of the fight looked predictable. In the end Algieri done well to get to the end with one of his eyes completely swollen shut let alone seal the victory. The fight was scored 114-112, 114-112 to Algieri and 117-109 to Provodnikov.
