Gennady Golovkin once again proved he is a class above with a second round stoppage victory over Marco Antonio Rubio and retained his WBA Middleweight title. The stoppage came just 79 seconds into the second round with a chopping left hand that sent Rubio to the canvas. The Mexican arguably got up in time before being counted out, but the ref saved him any more punishment and waved the fight off. The win for Golovkin means it’s his 18th consecutive stoppage victory.
