Kell Brook proved himself as an elite level fighter by beating Shawn Porter and claiming the IBF Welterweight, fulfilling a life long dream of becoming world champion. It was a tough and tricky night for Brook as the relentless Porter was constantly coming forward and bullying Brook around the ring. However the Sheffield man showed his worth by weathering the Porter onslaught well and landing the cleaner shots. It was an extremely close fight with Porter ahead for most of it until the later rounds when the American seemed to run out of steam. It was in these rounds that Brook proved he had what it took by gaining the tiny advantage there was to be had, in which it ultimately won him the title. The judges scored the fight 114-114 (draw) 117-111 and 116-112, with many fans expecting the home favourite Porter to be the winner, however it was Brook who was announced the winner and the new world champion. It was an impressive performance from Brook who has now cemented himself in amongst the world elite.
